ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS 2 App Reviews

Scenarios

Enjoying the game but you can only choose 3 of the original 6 scenarios and two of them are already past the 200ad mark where Cao Cao has already large portions of provinces.

Not worth it at all

Unreal high price ($15 regular price compare to the other 99% games on iPhone. $8 on sale price, compare to plant vs zombies $1 on sale price), no update at all (maybe Koei didnt even enough feedback to do updates). No language switch from the menu, you have to change the language setting of your iPhone! You can only reward one person in a month to bring up their loyalty, only 3 scenarios, and only 3 save slots. No choice of attack at battle field for the high wisdom officers, So easy for the AI to convert your officers right at the battle field... Sigh... Koei... why you produce this kind of garbage and set the so high price for the whole world to mock your good old name?

General opinion

Overall, I found this game quite fun. There were a few issues I believe must be dealt with. 1) only three scenarios. For a game that has improved so much over its predecessor, I do not see why we only have three scenarios. 2) certain characters dont show up. I dont know if this is a problem for everyone, but some characters just never show up in the game despite being in encyclopedia. Some examples are Guo jia, Dian Wei, Gao shun etc. 3) stats are poorly reflected. The stats in this game seem.....off. Yu Jin deserves a much higher war ability while people like lei tong certainly does not deserve a 86. Chen gong is also much smarter than a 80. 4) no benefits for high intellect in battle. People like sima yi and zhuge liang become totally useless in battle because their war abilities arent high enough. In an actual battle, Xu Zhu wouldnt stand a chance against zhuge-_- 5) development is overly simple which makes it quite easy to dominate your opponents with sheer numbers. In all if these issues are fixed then I will be INCREDIBLY happy:) I have played RTK since 8 and I have every single dynasty warriors and samurai warriors series to date(including warriors orochi but excluding handheld games).

Rtk2

The game is very good like The snes version except U have 1 Month to invade But with 50k vs 50k battle Its not possible to win. On the snes version you Can pursuit the battle next Month.

Got crashed when doing battles!

Got crashed many times when doing fire attack in battles.

Fire attack crash and tactics balancing

Game crashes constantly when trying to go a fire attack in battle. Some tactic successes dont make any sense either. For instance generals with 100 loyalty keep getting turned mid battle. Also need more control over movement in battle.

Good game. But...

I like this game. However, the application often quits when doing fire attack in battle. This has been reported multiple times and needs to be fixed to make this game more enjoyable. Also, it seems battle results are often random and not based on ability. For example, a general with 90 war ability should have a noticeable advantage over a general with 40 war ability, but that doesnt seem to be the case in battle. That is disappointing.

Good game but......

First of all this game is great, it shows you the history of the three kingdoms but instead of seeing the actual history YOU ARE THE HISTORY. But right now I got bored of it because I played it for more than 100 hours in total I literally mastered everything in the game including winning an 30k troops( mine ) against 100k troops!! Thats impossible to some people but I did it so...... All Im asking is either update it with new stuff or MAKE ANOTHER VERSION OF IT I will buy it even if it was 20$ who cares as long as there are some real players like me that want a bigger challenge please take this seriously. If you want me to help you guys out with something including stuff that can be interesting Im here to help contact me.

5 star

my favorite game is now on iphone. playing very well without any issue

There are improvements to be made

Hello Koei, I hope you get to read my comments! The first time I played RTK2 was around 1992, the Super Nintendo version basically costed like $100+. It was worth it because I played the game over and over. This iPhone port is nice and mostly faithful to the original. Koei cut out the tedious part of buying weapons, and there is also simplification for domestic government activities. I think thats nice because those were just tedious and I wouldve not wanted to spend extra time to manage those in a mobile environment. As a passionate player for this game, I do have some suggestions. Would KOEI be at least able to improve Lu Beis music? Lu Beis music is missing 2nd half from the original game, and 8 seconds of music is basically repeating over and over.... Please refer to the original version and improve the arrangement music to include it. Its just 8 seconds of repetitive music is not very pleasant. Please, KOEI QA team, play this with 8 second music on and on! You will get crazy soon!!! Quality of localization is not very high. There are phrases like "Would you like to end the turn without doing anything?". But this is a misleading phrase, since the player always gets this message, even if the play has done some activities. KOEI may want to give another round of localization review process..... Also, if retina display support could be added, thats great. There is a lot of text in RTK, so retina display should add a lot of usability. Otherwise, this is an enjoyable game. The price may seem high, but I bought this game in 1992 for SNES for more than $100, I guess KOEI price is still on the higher end, but at least.... its no longer $100. Good start, but please make improvements as mentioned above, and I will come back with 5 stars.

Does not improve ....

Well, I think, compare to the 1st edition does not improve almost part. in addition reduce the mission. U had a more update

Needs to remove lots of bugs

Please.... there are so many bugs... The game itself is pretty good. However, there is a bug whenever my delegated citys officer tries to attack another city. As soon as the battle ends, it crashes.... Also, it crashes on some random times. Hey, I dont want to personally hand-control ALL of my cities.. when there are like 30 cities that I captured. I want some of my cities to do its own work. So please, fix this bug.

Good, could be better

Ive played this game many times over the years and am thrilled to see it ported to the iPod. Please devs, bring back the continue battle the next month and the reinforce option. Without them the game suffers much. Put those in, 5 stars.

Dissapointed

Very unsatisfactory game. Does not improve upon first installment.

RTK Fan

Been a fan of the series since RTK 2 on SNES. This installation is welcomed. Not much different from the original. For those who have never played it - it is an empire builder with an emphasis on the actors or generals. My only real complaint is that it is too easy - even on expert. If you know which actors to pursue then the game is simple. I am going to try Nobinaga for more of a challenge.

Great Engine Improvements

The first version of this game was terrible, so many problems. However RTK2 is a load of fun and much improved. I only hope it comes out on the iPad!! Fighting seems to be a little easier, the graphics are updated slightly. Also, forming alliances greatly gives you the chance of surviving while picking on your enemies. Allies will also pay you back if you pay them, that AI is pretty sweet. Im really enjoying this game on my phone, its fun to carry around and continue later.

Too simple

1. There could be different type of troops, like archers and cavalries. 1. The duel could be more flexible. The player or PC should be able to call for it anytime during the war. 2. People with high INT can only use fire attack which is not powerful itself, could offer more options. 3. PC is too simple, no threat to the player. 4. Each state could be represented as a real castle, instead of just a block. States could be connected with paths for better view. 5. Only offer three scenarios to start from.

Its original

Just love it, even the software cheated,(it reduced your troops ability down maybe 20 to 30 per cent) that just make a little bit harder and make you play a little bit longer. Nothing wrong with it. Liubei still is the god in the game, just kill liubei, you win the game. But the in the Pc game, Caocao is stronger than here.

Simplified remake of original

This game is a "lite" remake of the original RTK2. The always pleasant music score was reduced to 8 second loops. Few strategic options. Only 3 scenarios to choose from. I do look forward to a touch version of RTK3... hopefully not a "lite" version of it. RTK3 was one of the best in the series, in my opinion. Lots of detail, plenty of options and many ways to advance through the game.

Okay

Good game, has some flaws. Was dissapointed that you couldnt play as an officer, and just a ruler. Officers seem to defect a lot, which seems silly. But this game is still fun. I would also recommend King of Dragon Pass.
